Mzansi is one of the most diverse countries in the world so its not exactly rocket science that some of the most talented people in Hollywood and in the entertainment industry are of South African origin

Doja Cat

Zandile Dlamini known professionally as Doja Cat, is a singer, rapper and songwriter who first rose to prominence with the release of the music video for her song “Mooo!”, which went viral in 2018 and has over 75 million views. She is the daughter of South African legendary actor Dumisani Dlamini who is popularly known for his role as crocodile on the hit movie Sarafina. In May 2020, in response to accusations of racism, Doja Cat stated that she identifies as a black woman and has pride for her South African roots.

Charlize Theron

Perhaps the biggest female celebrity ever to come out of South Africa Charlize Theron is a South African actress and producer. Theron was born in Johannesburg in 1975 and her first language is Afrikaans. 

Trevor Noah

Trevor Noah is a South African comedian, political commentator, and television host. He was born in  1984 in Johannesburg and was raised by his mother and grandmother in the black township of Soweto.

Daniel Radcliffe

Harry Potter is one of the most popular  films of all time which accumulated an estimated $21 billion. Danielle Radcliffe who played Harry Potter is actually South African by descent since his mother was born in South Africa.

John Kani

Very few black South African actors make it to Hollywood and John Kani is one of them. 

Elon musk 

Although he is not particularly known for his very few acting roles Elon Musk is one of the most famous and richest people in the world. Born in 1971 in Pretoria, Elon Musk is an engineer, industrial designer and technology entrepreneur.

Earl sweetshirt

Thebe Kgositsile also known by his stage name Earl Sweatshirt, is a rapper, songwriter and record producer. Thebe Neruda Kgositsile was born in 1994 to William  Kgositsile, a South African poet and political activist. 

Lesley-Ann Brandt 

Lesley-Ann Brandt is a South African actress Born in Cape Town in 1981. If you were a fan of Spatarcus then you will definitely remember Lesley for her role as the slave girl Naevia which caught everyone’s eye.

Arnold Vosloo 

Arnold Vosloo is one of those actors with a familiar which always leaves you to wonder where you know him from. Arnold Vosloo is a South African-American actor born in 1962 in Pretoria. He is known for his roles in The Mummy and The Mummy Returns.

Pearl Thusi 

Our list would be complete without the Zulu queen. Pearl Thusi is a South African actress, model, television host, and radio personality. Pearl first gained international recognition in 2016 after her role on Quantico, a USA hit series about FBI recruits. In 2018 she starred in fantasy film The Scorpion King: Book of Souls as Tala – Warrior Princess
